Dry Needling and Acupuncture

Functional Dry Needling

Citadel Physiotherapy offers dry needling as a therapeutic modality. Dry needling involves multiple advances of a fine needle into the muscle in the area of the body that produces pain and typically contains a trigger point. There is no injectable solution and the needle that is used is very thin. Positive results can be apparent in as little as one treatment session.

Dry needling is an effective treatment for acute and chronic pain, rehabilitation from injury, and can assist with injury prevention, with very few side-effects. This technique is beneficial in treating and eliminating neuromuscular dysfunction that leads to pain and functional deficits.

Various therapists at Citadel Physiotherapy offer acupuncture as a treatment modality and it maybe used as a complementary treatment to physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage therapy services.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through the skin at strategic points on your body. Acupuncture can be used to decrease pain, relax muscles, improve joint flexibility and circulation, strengthen the immune system, and regulate the nervous system.  With very few side effects, acupuncture is often used to help with pain control in acute and chronic conditions.
