Visit Our New Location In Dartmouth: Massage Therapy & More

Citadel Physiotherapy is pleased to open our new, larger and brighter location at 250 Baker Dr., Suite 124. In our shared space with the Arthritis and Injury Care Centre, our experienced physiotherapists and registered massage therapists will assist you in your rehabilitation needs. Using techniques such as manual and manipulative therapy, exercise prescription, acupuncture, and massage therapy, our therapists will assist you in your sports injury, motor vehicle accident, work-related injury or postural injury. If you have had or need surgery, we can also assist you in your pre -operative rehabilitation, post-operative rehabilitation and offer pool therapy sessions as well.

Manual & Manipulative Therapy

All physiotherapists use specifically tailored exercise to treat pain and stiffness. In addition to exercise, Manipulative Physiotherapists are highly trained at using their hands to diagnose and treat restrictions in movement in the spine, arms and legs. Like massage therapy it is typically done using gentle, hands-on techniques. We can help reduce muscle tightness, improve movement in the joints, reduce pain, and improve function.

Exercise Prescriptions

Our team incorporates exercise into every patient's treatment program, whether in the clinic or as a home exercise program. Exercise will be an important part of your treatment program to help recover, improve and overcome your physical restrictions.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a process that uses small needles to stimulate specific nerve endings to help activate the body’s natural healing responses, reducing pain and inflammation. At Citadel Physiotherapy, acupuncture can help with multiple musculoskeletal issues.

Shockwave Therapy

RPW (Radial Pressure Waves) Shockwave Therapy is an excellent non-invasive treatment solution which promotes the rapid healing of injured tissue, bone, heel and joints. With virtually no side effects, the treatment method reduces pain and increases blood circulation which stimulates the healing process. By speeding up the recovery process, RPW Shockwave Therapy enables people to regain the joy and comfort of natural mobility.

Therapeutic shock waves were introduced as a medical treatment for eliminating kidney stones 20 years ago. A shockwave is an intense, but acoustic wave travelling faster than the speed of sound. Today Shockwave technology is used on millions of people around the world to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal, neurological, and soft tissue disorders.

Treatment sessions last no more than 30 minutes and provide successful rapid relief of chronic pain and restores mobility. The therapy has the added benefit of improving lymphatic drainage and reducing muscle tone, so enhanced body shape and cellulite reduction can be expected.
